Statement of Faith

Here are basic doctrines of the churches represented on this site:

  1. The Bible is the preserved infallible word of God.

This is believing that the Bible is actually written by God through the hands of men; that every verse is true and accurate and the source of all doctrine. God promised to preserve it down through the ages and He has in the English language in the King James or Authorised Version.

2 Tim. 3:16,17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

  1. Belief in only one God as God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Without this belief there is no grounds for any other. This is probably the most important fact in the Christian Faith. The Bible teaches God as the only God and that there is no other. The idea of God being three in one boggles the mind but that is what faith is all about. It has been described like an egg, it has a Shell, the White, and the Yoke but it is still ONE egg.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Mark 12:32 …for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

(Ephes. 4:6; 1 Tim. 2:5; 1 Cor. 8:4)

  1. The literal account of creation in Genesis.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

God created the world and its inhabitants in six literal days and on the seventh he rested. The world was perfect “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31.)

God made man (Adam) in His own image from the dust of the ground.

Genesis 1:26,27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

From Adam, all people have descended and through different genetic combinations, different groups, shades, facial features, sizes etc have occurred.

Acts 17:24-26 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

  1. That Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden and thus brought sin into the world.

Genesis 2:16,17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Man was under Devine instruction NOT to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil; but the devil, in the form of a serpent, tricked Eve (Adam’s wife whom God made from Adam’s rib – Gen 2:18-25) into eating of the fruit and giving to Adam also. Because of this disobedience, sin was brought into the world and all men are sinners since they are descended from Adam.

Romans 5:18,19 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

As a result of this sin, death entered the world since it is the penalty for sin.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

  1. That all men have transgressed the law (the 10 Commandments) and are in danger of eternal punishment in hell.

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

There is no one who has kept the law of God, e.g. the 10 Commandments. If a person has lied then they are a liar, if they have stolen they are a thief, lust is adultery of the heart, hatred is murder in the heart.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

The “Glory of God” is Christ, and there is none that can compare to His perfection.

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.

1 Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

(Romans 3:10-18; Psalm 5:9,10; 10:7; 14:2,3; 36:1,2; 52:2-4; 140:3; Eccles. 7:20; Isaiah 59:7,8)

  1. That God sent His only begotten Son to earth to be the Saviour of men.

Jesus came to “seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10), and to take “away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

(Romans 3:23-25; 5:6,8 Galatians 1:4; Ephes. 1:7; 2:13; 5:2; Col.1:20; 1 Tim. 2:6; Titus 2:14; Hebrews 10:10-14; 1 Peter 1:18-23; Rev. 5:9)

  1. That Jesus was born of Mary the virgin, and is the Son of God, and God the Son.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

John 10:30  I and my Father are one.

(Psalm 45:6-7; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6-7; Hebrews 1:8-12; Rev. 1:8,11; Rev. 22:13-16)

  1. That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, the Just for the Unjust that He might bring us to God.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Galatians 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Ephes. 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

(Matthew 26:28; 27:1-56; Titus 2:14; 1 Tim. 2:6)

  1. That God raised Him from the grave on the third day according to the Scriptures.

1 Cor. 15:3,4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

(Psalm 16:10; Psalm 22:1; Isaiah 52:14; Isaiah 53:1-12; Matthew 27:57-28:20)

  1. That Salvation is ONLY possible through Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me

Ephes. 2:8,9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

(Matthew 7:14; John 10:1,7,9; Hebrews 9:8-15; 10:19-23)

  1. That salvation is a FREE gift from God and a person only needs to Believe, Repent of their sin and Ask for forgiveness

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Mark 6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

(John 3:16-18; 6:27; 10:28; Romans 3:24; 5:15-18; Ephes. 2:8,9)

  1. Eternal Security of the Believer.

The fact that when a person trusts Christ there is no doubt that they will go to heaven regardless of what they have done.

John 3:15,16 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 10:27-29 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

(John 3:36; John 5:24; Romans 8:35-39; Romans 5:8-9; Romans 14:4; 1 Cor. 1:8,9; Ephes. 1:4; Ephes. 1:13; Ephes. 4:30; Philip. 1:6; 2 Tim. 1:12; 1 Peter 1:5; 1 John 2:1,2; 1 John 3:2; Jude 1:24)

  1. The Rapture of Believers

The Church of the Bible also preached that Jesus would one day return in person at an unknown hour to gather all the people who have trusted him as Saviour to heaven.

There is no such thing as the “rapture of the church”, however, the church will be raptured along with the other believers, which were never a member of the church that Jesus built.

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

1 Thes. 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

(Mark 13:32; John 14:1-3; 1 Cor. 15:35-58; Phil. 3:21)

  1. The Observance of the Church Ordinances until the Rapture.

The only ordinances of the Local Church are those of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

1 Cor. 11:1,2 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

1 Cor. 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

  1. The Fulfilment of the Great Commission.

The great commission as it is termed is described in Matt 28:18-20, it was given by Christ to the disciples as an institution, i.e. the church. Therefore it is not each believer that is commissioned but each Local New Testament Church.

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. “

This is the primary function of the Local Church in seeking and winning souls, baptizing them and teaching them to do the same as well as all church doctrine.
